My Thoughts & My Heart
Thoughts Affect The Heart
Psalm 19:14 King James Version (KJV)
“14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”
Many people could be healed right today by making a few minor adjustments. Sounds easy but it is true. Have you ever been in deep thought about something that it took you out of the moment? Or better yet, have you remembered something funny in public and it caused you to burst into laughter? I was in a serious meeting and whispered something to a friend of mine in the same meeting. I was explaining to her a funny situation that was going on with me and she lost all composure and burst into laughter. At that moment, she was not thinking about the meeting. She was thinking of the funny, but serious scenario that created an image in her mind of what I must have been going through.
Many of our issues come from our heart. The Bible even tells us this in proverbs to be careful of what we harbor in our hearts for out of it flow the issues of life. It is a proven fact that the things you think on are what affect you daily.
I like Psalm 19:14 because it is a reminder for me to keep my mind totally focused on those things that are good. I have several little kids I can think about right now that as I am thinking about them, it causes me to smile. Those kids can always somehow put a smile on my face. I can still think of the cute things my own children did when they were small and still chuckle. Likewise, there are certain events that I can think about that bring sadness.
I am absolutely convinced that the mind is connected to the heart and that the heart creates everything else in life around us whether it is good fortune, wealth, good relationships, bad relationships, etc.
It is especially important when experiencing difficult relationships no matter how hard they may be to think the right thoughts. We must think good pure thoughts about individuals who mistreat us. The only way to do this is through prayer. We may think we are praying for that individual, but really God is working on our hearts which in turn helps us to respond and react properly.
My encouragement for you today is to always keep praying for people in your lives whether those people are close to you or distant. Every person you encounter in your life whether it was a good experience or bad experience is for a reason. Every thing does happen for a reason, but not every thing is a part of God’s plan. However even if it isn’t part of the original plan, God takes what is bad and uses it for good.
